The Ipoh railway station is a Malaysian train station located on the southwestern side of and named after the capital city of Ipoh, Perak.It serves as the main railway terminal for the state under Keretapi Tanah Melayu offering KTM ETS services, as well as handling freight trains.
The station is located near to, and linked via covered pedestrian walkways, the Penang Sentral and the Sultan Abdul Hamid Ferry Terminal for ferries to Penang Island. The end of the line at this station is "Chainage Zero", and as such, regarded as the starting point of the KTM West Coast Line to Woodlands, Singapore.
The service, which extends the KTM Komuter network by 22 km, covers three new stations, namely Serendah, Batang Kali and Rasa. This is the first stretch of the problem-prone and much-delayed Rawang-Ipoh electrification and double-tracking project to become operational. The KTM Komuter Northern Sector (Malay: KTM Komuter Utara) is one of the five KTM Komuter services run by Malaysian rail operator Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM). The service was introduced on 11 September 2015 following the completion of the Ipoh-Padang Besar Electrification and Double-Tracking Project in December 2014, which also saw the extension of ETS services to Padang Besar from Ipoh.
