The Pima County Fairgrounds is a 640-acre facility located on the far southeastern edge of Tucson. It is home to the annual fair, first held in 1911 (and held somewhat sporadically in the years following, being held more regularly after World War II), as well as numerous trade shows, concerts and community events.
Tucson Speedway is a 0.375 mi (0.604 km) paved oval racetrack located at the Pima County Fairgrounds, off Interstate 10 just south of Tucson, Arizona. It is one of only three paved ovals in the state of Arizona (the others are Phoenix Raceway and Havasu 95 Speedway ).

The series began as the NASCAR Winston Racing Series in 1982 as weekly, local track racing sanctioned by NASCAR. Due to restrictions imposed by the Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement, Winston's sponsorship was replaced by Dodge in 2001 (coinciding with their re-entry to the Cup Series that year), lasting until 2006.
