In December 2015, the company relocated to a new brewery and taproom facility built on 20 acres (81,000 m 2) of undeveloped land on the Colorado river just north of the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Construction of the new facility took 11 months. Live Oak Brewing Company brewery and taproom.
Trained as a master stonemason, he built a three-story German-Texan style house on the property and, in the late 1860s, began building a brewery. The brewery was in full operation by the 1870s, and by 1878 it had become the third largest brewing operation in Texas, with 774 barrels recorded and distributed around the local area.
The company then bought 26 Pietro's Pizza restaurants in March 1996 in a $2.8 million deal in cash and assumed debt, but then sold off seven of the locations with plans to convert the remaining Pietro's to what was then BJ's Pizza. [10] During the same year, the company opened a microbrewery at its Brea restaurant. [11]

[1] [2] Silicon Hills has been a nickname for Austin since the mid-1990s. The name is analogous to Silicon Valley, but refers to the hilly terrain on the west side of Austin.
