Alice Garcia Reyes (born October 14, 1942) [1] [2] is a Filipina dancer, choreographer, teacher, director and producer. The founder (together with Eddie Elejar) of Ballet Philippines, she received since June 20, 2014 from the Philippine President Benigno Aquino III the highest award in the Arts, National Artist of the Philippines. Ballet Manila School started as a spin-off from the “Lisa Macuja Summer Workshop” [30] which was originally conducted in the summer of 1995. Previously, the classes were held at the old Ballet Manila Studio which was located [30] in Quezon city. The pilot class performed their first piece entitled Etudes [30] in June 1996.
