At some point in the 1950s or 1960s, the Grand Conclaves were changed to being held every eighteen months. After the 75th Grand Conclave in 1986, Grand Conclaves were changed to every two years.

Omega Psi Phi is a founding member of the National Pan-Hellenic Council. The fraternity has chartered over 750 undergraduate and graduate chapters.
The conclave is the legislative power of Phi Beta Sigma. During a conclave year, delegates representing all of the active chapters from within the seven regions of the fraternity meet in the chosen city. The conclave or fraternity convention is currently held biannually and is usually hosted by graduate chapters of the chosen city.
