Arvin Federal Government Camp was located on the outskirts of the small towns of Arvin and Weedpatch. The camp now is located in an unincorporated area of Kern County just south of Bakersfield. The camp originally consisted of canvas tents on plywood platforms for the residents as well as some permanent buildings.

The Long Canyon Village Site is an archaeological site located on the South Fork Kern River in Kern County, California, near the community of South Lake. The village was inhabited by the Tübatulabal people, who used the site as a winter home, until a point between 1780 and 1820. Archaeologists discovered the site in 1948–49.
The current owner, the Presbytery of Blackhawk, is an association of 75 Presbyterian congregations in Illinois. Originally, Stronghold operated as a summer camp and was housed almost entirely within the castle. But in the intervening years, the center’s mission has grown. It now functions as a four-season conference, retreat and camping center.
