Notably, the ECO does not have a general assembly, making Synod the highest "court." Synod is now the gathering of all ECO churches, with new presbyteries forming as more churches enter the denomination. Further, the ordination standards are a bit different from the PCA.

Most Presbyterian churches you come across are PC (USA). They are also the most diverse, ranging from liberal to moderately conservative. There's like 10,000 congregations in the PC (USA), 1.8 million members. ECO stands for Evangelical Covenant Order of Presbyterians, which is a new denomination that is breaking away from the PC (USA).

EPC vs PCA. I had breakfast with the pastors of the local EPC church and was shocked to find out that they are more conservative and confessional than the local PCA. The local PCA is o the more progressive side, mostly made up of Covenant Seminary grads that are sold on the James Davison Hunter / Faithful Presence view of the church and body ...

PCA does not ordain women in any way, shape, or form. EPC has church options on women’s ordination. Depending on the congregation, the theology of Scripture might be more toward the “inspired” pole instead of the “inerrant” pole. ECO recently split from the PCUSA because of same sex marriage and LGBTQ+ ordination.

Presbyterian core doctrines are 5 points of Calvinism (TULIP), while Baptists core doctrines reject most of those points. This is how baptists view the 5 points of Calvinism: T - Kind of accepted, but reject original sin. U - Kind of rejected, double predestination is rejected. L - Rejected, anyone can be saved.

I would say that in order from Liberal to Consevative: Affirms Homosexual Unions & Acts. UCC (They are historically German Reformed) United Church of Christ. PC (USA) Presbyterian Church in the United States of America. Requires Affirmation of Women's Ordination. ECO Evangelical Covenant Order of Presbyterians.

Both theologically and politically the PCA is to the right of the EPC. In addition to the difference on OOW that u/historyhill pointed out, the EPC belongs to the World Communion of Reformed Churches, a worldwide fellowship of churches that also includes PCUSA and the UCC! In terms of politics, the PCA split from the southern Presbyterian ...

A funny saying I've heard is: "PCA has Reformed pastors, OPC has Reformed churches". In general, the OPC is similar to the more conservative part of the PCA. Theologically they should be the same. Reply reply. Mega_Mack. •. The main difference is that the PCA is more theologically and liturgically diverse than the OPC.

[WCF 25.4] gives a rubric for determining which churches are more or less pure. I'd start there. It has been my experience that the "conservative" denominations (e.g. PCA, OPC mentioned by others) have issues as well. So it's hard for me to say a PCA church is "sound" if it hosts - for example - kind of right wing "faith and freedom" events.

  11. PCA vs CRC differences? : r/Reformed - Reddit

    www.reddit.com/r/Reformed/comments/kks0mf/pca_vs_crc_differences

Historic: CRCNA is continental Reformed (Dutch) and PCA is Presbyterian. The Majority of the PCA was part of the Presbyterian Church in the Confederate States of America, and the CRCNA was almost strictly a northern church. The CRCNA broke off from what is now the RCA, and the PCA is a merger of breakoffs of what is now the PC (USA).
