    We provide service to all unincorporated (non-city) areas of Los Angeles County as well as to a number of contracted cities. The City of Los Angeles is not serviced by our agency (except for small unincorporated areas surrounded by or adjacent to the city).

    The County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control is one of the largest and most progressive animal control agencies in the United States. DACC has adopted the philosophy of Socially Conscious Animal Sheltering at our seven animal care centers.

  8. Spaying or Neutering is the Law. Los Angeles County Code §10.20.350 requires all residents of unincorporated areas in Los Angeles County to have their dogs and cats older than four months of age spayed or neutered. A number of cities that have also adopted this ordinance (referenced below).

All animals adopted from one of our animal care centers are eligible for a free veterinary exam (within seven days of adoption) by any participating member of the Southern California Veterinary Medical Association.
