A covert listening device, more commonly known as a bug or a wire, is usually a combination of a miniature radio transmitter with a microphone. The use of bugs, called bugging, or wiretapping is a common technique in surveillance , espionage and police investigations.
The Thing, also known as the Great Seal bug, was one of the first covert listening devices (or "bugs") to use passive techniques to transmit an audio signal. It was concealed inside a gift given by the Soviet Union to W. Averell Harriman , the United States Ambassador to the Soviet Union , on August 4, 1945.
Soundbug transmits the audio signal to the flat surface by way of a small piece of Terfenol-D, which is a magnetostrictive alloy of rare earth metals and iron. This material, when stimulated with an electrical input, causes the Terfenol to expand slightly, resulting in sound output with a very small amplitude.
The Home Speaker 500 is the flagship model in the Home Speaker Series, featuring larger drivers (speakers), and more room-filling sound. The 500 also features a color LCD display screen that is used strictly for song information (similar to the screens on early Apple iPod models).
The first 2.1 audio system from Bose to include a DVD player was the "3-2-1", released in 2001. [1] The "3-2-1 GS" model was introduced in 2003, named for its use of Bose "Gemstones" small speakers, which have two drivers pointing forward and one pointing to the side. [2] [3]
The shelf stereo, also known as a mini component system or simply mini system, is a compact stereo system that is generally small enough to fit on an average shelf and sold with all necessary components packaged together. They may accept various media or connect to other systems.

By 1977, BSR's factories were producing over 250,000 units a week; the majority of record changers installed in console stereos and bookshelf stereo systems during this era were manufactured by BSR. [2] BSR also made tape recorder mechanisms. [3] Bang & Olufsen used BSR's TD2 tape deck in their Beocord Belcanto from 1962. [4]
