P226 9mm mags will fit in P228 and older P229 9mm pistols, but of course stick out of the bottom. P226 9mm mags will also fit the newer 9mm P229-1s, but they will be a little loose because they are slightly narrower than the bottom of the gun's magazine well. I am not familiar with the .40/.357 P226 mags, but I believe they also have straight ...
I have both the P228 and P226 in 9MM and was wondering if the magazines are interchangeable. I did fit the P226 mag in the P228 and the P228 mag in the P226 and they seem to function fine except I have not tried to shoot them yet. The P226 mag is a Mec-Gar 20 rd and it is stamped P226 and the P228 mag is an 18 rd Mec-Gar and is stamped P228.
tcfiero. Starting with a 40 or 357, a P224 can use the 224, 229, and 226 mags. The 229 can use 229 and 226 mags. The 226 can use 226 mags. Starting with an 9mm the 224 can use 224, 228, 229, and 226 mags. The 228 can use 228, 226 and original 229 mags. The original 229 can use 228, 226, and original 229 mags.
However, Sig themselves used to sell caliber X-change kits for the P226 and P229, and still do for the P320, which were nothing more than a stock top end and a couple mags. They were careful to say not to use the heavier (.40/.357) kits on older frames, but we know that within limits, Sig considered it safe.
The early P228/P229 in 9mm, was a 13 round capacity, and physically smaller in size than the P229 in .357 Sig/.40 S&W. The later P229-1 marked magazines were the same physical size as the .357 Sig/.40 S&W magazines and held 15 rounds. Currently the P228/P229 9mm magazines also hold a standard 15 rounds, making things more difficult.
513 posts · Joined 2013. #4 · Sep 24, 2013. I have a P226 chambered in 40. It came factory shipped with 2-10 round checkmate mags. i verified this with a call to Sig C.S. as i thought MecGars were standard. I have since then purchased 3 mecgar and got a good deal (5$ ea) on 2 promags.
Magazine Interchangeability Question. I'm the happy owner of a 2022 9mm. Recently I've been thinking about picking up a Kel Tec sub2000 9mm. They list their Sig magazine version as working with a 226 magazine. My question - barring the bottom of the magazine differences and length, would a 2022 magazine work in a 226 (and therefore possibly the ...
P226 Magazines: 10rd vs 15rd. I just got a P226 mk 25 yesterday, my first Sig pistol. I did not know at the time that the magazines only hold 10 rounds. I live in Florida so it should have come with 15 round magazines (thanks Gander Mountain!).
They also had P228/P229 phosphated 13 round 9mm magazines, and most ran around $20 apiece, wished now, I had bought some of them. They weren't branded as Sig Sauer, or Mec-Gar, just marked as you have shown, CDNN had them listed as "Original Equipment" under manufacturer.
The 13 round P226 "Commercial" offerings have a longer "tube", no different than the difference between the 9mm 18 round commercial Mec Gar Magazines and the Sig offered 15 round 9mm Magazines. Here is a Mec Gar 13 round "Commercial" Magazine on top, with a Sig Sauer marked Mec Gar 12 round Magazine below it. The "commercial" Magazine tubes are ...
