The Blanco River flows through the park. Fish the area to the left coming into the park. The sunfish this time of year will be hanging close to the overhanging tree limbs. Across the river on the other bank is best. There are trails but the the bank space is "Tight Quarters". I have seen some very nice bass, and carp.
Grapevine and Temple, TX. Be careful accessing the Blanco River anywhere in Blanco County. We used to access the Blanco River from CR 406...great fishing spot! If you park up on FM 165 and walk the mile down to the low-water crossing, you can easily wade up river of the low water crossing and get on some pretty good size bass.

Anyway my oldest (6) is wanting to catch some bigger fish. we are headed back to the park soon as wandering if yall have any advise.
I am looking at an overnight stopover at blanco state park in early or mid June. How is the fishing? Id like to most importantly get my 3 yr old on some fish to reel in, and wouldn't mind a few eating size sunnies (hand size) for the grease. I'll have a light line spinning reel and some small mepps or rooster tails.
Also there are some very good areas to fish around San Antonio such as Lake Dunlap, Mcqueeney, and Placid as well as the Guadalupe River. The Hill country it's self is loaded with good places to fish. The Blanco State Park and the Guadalupe River State Park are super good areas to bank fish for sunfish. You can look up these areas of Google Map.
Today I fished the small lake inside Palmetto State Park. The lake is very small and shallow. My first time there. Enjoyed seeing and talking to Banker Always Fishing. Banker and Steve were about to leave when I got there at about 11:00. They left with 2 limits and I fished where they had been fishing. Again I gave fish away and released many more.
Buescher State Park - 03/23/17 08:25 PM. Has any one fished on the small lake at Buescher State park and had any recent luck with bass and crappie? Thinking about taking my kayak out and go one evening while the spawn is going on, and I figured that since it is a small lake they should be more active with the warmer water temps.
The Blue is a great smallmouth River. Wet wading and snakes for sure. Tough fly fishing water for the smallies though. Just the nature of the falls in the River. Outdoorsman. F. Joined: Feb 2008. Posts: 37. Huntsville TX. Yes there are Crappie in the State Lake. The ones I catch are on brush piles. You will have to use your dept finder to find the brush piles, then cast to them because the water is wasd so clear, the shaddow of your boat causes problems. Most of the brush piles are from the Boat ramp to ...
