A Closed Game (or Double Queen's Pawn Opening) is a chess opening that begins with the moves: 1. d4 d5The move 1. d4 offers the same benefits to development and center control as does 1. e4, but unlike with the King Pawn openings where the e4-pawn is undefended after the first move, the d4-pawn is protected by White's queen.
The best advice I can give is don't play trappy nonsense. At best you win because you know some tricky move. That kind of win loses its fun really fast and at some point you play people that know the path and then you suffer and that really is not fun. Some fun sound ish openings With black Benko vs d4 Latvian vs e4 With white Vienna gambit
Hello, fellow chess enthusiasts! I'm sure we all have our favorite openings, but I'm curious: what do you think is the best chess opening, and why? Me myself I love the Italian opening because it makes it possible for the king to be at the safe spot as soon as possible and the opening gives a good control in the middle.
Chessable is basically duolingo for chess openings. The courses for different openings are created by top players, and some are free, some are paid for. I’ve found it really useful for actually remembering the opening, but for choosing what you learn, it’s less customisable because the courses you learn from have a set number of variations ...

Play simple openings with simple ideas. You want quick development that can lead to tactical positions. Playing positionally at low elo is usually not recommended by chess coaches. When I was 1400 I began studying theory and I learned the evans gambit, vienna systems (vienna gambit. Gotham chess and st.louis chess club have a great video on it).

I'm rated around 1700 on lichess, so I'm not an absolute beginner and I know how to play some common openings. Curious to hear about your favorite books on this topic.
Totally depends on what level you are playing, my repertoire for white used to be Vienna Game or Four Knights game, started playing more D4 openings this time learning the Queen's Gambit opening rather than playing the London, I'm liking the Queen's Gambit because it is an opening that has actually been played extensively by Grandmasters (in ...
Ok as far as openings, because I know you asked, there are a couple simple ones that don't require a huge amount of theory to play, here is one for the kings pawn and one for the queens pawn. The London system is a stable if not boring opening but can make it difficultfor your opponentto immediately poke hiles in it if used properly.
