The Ferry Boat Inn is currently closed. In January 2010, the site was sold to the Borthwick family, who received planning permission to build Norwich Backpackers on the site. Lenwade is a village [2] in the civil parish of Great Witchingham, Norfolk, situated in the Wensum Valley adjacent to the A1067 road 14 miles (23 km) south-east of Fakenham and some 11 miles (18 km) north-west of Norwich. The River Ainse (or Eyn) joins the Wensum at Lenwade. In 2001 it had a population of 464.

The pub was first mentioned in 1823, at which time it was located in a building on the south-east side of Marygate. Although it was later renamed the Gardener's Arms, in the mid-1880s, it became the Minster Inn again.
