WEWS-TV (channel 5) is a television station in Cleveland, Ohio, United States, affiliated with ABC.It has been owned by the E. W. Scripps Company since its inception in 1946, making it one of three stations that have been built and signed on by Scripps (alongside company flagship WCPO-TV in Cincinnati and WMC-TV in Memphis, the latter of which was sold in 1993).

The station first signed on the air on October 31, 1948, as WNBK, broadcasting on VHF channel 4. It was the second television station in Cleveland to debut, ten months after WEWS-TV (channel 5), and was the fourth of NBC's five original owned-and-operated stations to sign on, three weeks after WNBQ (now WMAQ-TV) in Chicago.

André M. Bernier (born May 22, 1959) is an American meteorologist, formerly serving as the Cleveland-based WJW-TV's weekday evening meteorologist. He won two Emmy awards [1] for his weathercasts and has been at the station since February 1988, [2] when Cleveland's very first full-length local morning newscast began.
WJW was the third television station to sign on in Cleveland as WXEL, the first station to be built by Herbert Mayer, founder of the Empire Coil Company. WXEL began on channel 9 on December 17, 1949, two years to the date of WEWS-TV's sign-on.
Shortly after college, Henry worked as a reporter and weather forecaster for Akron, Ohio TV station WAKR-TV 23, and upon returning home from his Peace Corps service, Henry then worked at sister stations WKBN AM 570 and WKBN-TV 27 in Youngstown, Ohio as a government reporter. [2] [3] In 1972, Henry came to Cleveland and began work at WEWS.
