The Nikon D3S is a 12.1-megapixel professional-grade full frame digital single-lens reflex camera announced by Nikon Corporation on 14 October 2009. [2] The D3S is the fourth camera in Nikon's line to feature a full-frame sensor, following the D3, D700 and D3X. It is also Nikon's first full-frame camera to feature HD (720p/30) video recording.
The D3, along with the Nikon D3X, was a flagship model in Nikon's line of DSLRs, superseding the D2Hs and D2Xs. It was replaced by the D3S as Nikon's flagship DSLR. The D3, D3X, D3S, D4, D4s, D5, D6, D700, D800, D800Е and Df are the only Nikon FX format DSLRs manufactured in Japan. [citation needed] The D3S was replaced by the D4 in 2012.
Photographic Activity Test (PAT) is an ISO standard test detailed in ISO 18916:2007 (E), updated in 2007. [1] Previous versions of the standard were numbered ISO 14523:1999(E). [1] The test evaluates materials for archival quality and their use in photographic enclosures.
Nikon claims the D3X is a competitor to medium-format digital backs, [6] a claim supported both by testing [3] and by many D3X users who report on their experiences online. On the down side, Digital Photography Review notes that the D3X performs worse than the D3 in terms of speed (frame rate) and high ISO performance. [ 2 ]
Nikon models with this capability: E700, E800, E880, E900, E950, E990, E995, E2100, E2500, E3700, E4300, E4500. Some Canon PowerShot cameras with DiGiC II and certain DiGiC III image processors which are not advertised as supporting a RAW format can actually produce usable raw files with an unofficial open-source firmware add-on by some users.
