Deep River has 12 dams or relict dam structures and is the source river of the Randleman lake project that covers 3,000 acres (12 km 2) of property on the river near U.S. Route 220. The river crosses the Fall Line of North Carolina, an area where rivers are quite rocky and have a moderately high gradient.
The park is in the Deep River State Trail corridor. The trail is a part of the North Carolina State Trails System, which is a section of NCDPR and, by January 2019, 669 miles (1,077 km) of trail had been designated as a part of the MST by NCDPR. [ 2 ] The segments of MST along the Blue Ridge Parkway were designated as a National Recreation Trail in 2005.

Eno Quarry Trail is marked by blue blazes and is a 0.42-mile (0.68 km) loop. In the 1960s, stone was removed from the Eno Quarry Trail to aid in construction of Interstate 85. The quarry is now the site of a 4-acre (16,000 m 2) pond. The trail has several spots that are good for fishing.
