Kilmarnock Football Club, commonly known as Killie, is a Scottish professional football team based in the town of Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire. The team is currently managed by Derek McInnes , who was appointed in January 2022.
The 2024–25 season will be the 146th season of competitive association football and the 12th season in the Scottish Professional Football League played by Kilmarnock Football Club, a professional football club based in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland. After a 2–1 comeback win in Wales, Kilmarnock lost 2–0 at Rugby Park and were knocked out by the Welsh part-timers 3–2 on aggregate. [7] Kilmarnock played Rangers at home in their first league fixture on Sunday 4 August 2019. [8] The fixture was a repeat of the last match of the previous season which Kilmarnock won 2–1. [9]
A Kilmarnock XI took part in two friendly matches. The first was against East Kilbride on 18 July 2018 in which Daniel Higgins scored the only goal of the game to give Killie a 1–0 win. [3] On 22 July 2018, Killie played local junior side Kilwinning Rangers in Ben Lewis's testimonial. [4]
Kilmarnock finished fifth in the Scottish Premier League with 49 points. [1] They reached the Quarter-Final of the League Cup , losing to Rangers [ 2 ] and the fourth round of the 2010–11 Scottish Cup , also losing to Rangers .
