John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park is a Florida State Park located on Key Largo in Florida. It includes approximately 70 nautical square miles (240 km 2 ) of adjacent Atlantic Ocean waters. The park is approximately 25 miles in length and extends 3 miles into the Atlantic Ocean along the prominent Hawk Channel passage.
The 9-foot (2.7 m) tall statue Christ of the Deep, placed in less than 25 feet (7.6 m) of water in a sand channel on the offshore side of the Dry Rocks reef on August 25, 1965, in what at that time was part of John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, was included in the Key Largo National Marine Sanctuary.

The formation is exposed along the upper and middle Florida Keys from Soldier Key (at the north end of the Florida Keys) to the Bahia Honda Channel (at the west end of Bahia Honda Key).

Molasses Reef is a coral reef located within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. It lies to the southeast of Key Largo, within the Key Largo Existing Management Area, which is immediately to the east of John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. This reef is within a Sanctuary Preservation Area (SPA).
