Winder (/ ˈ w aɪ n d ər /, WYNE-dər) [5] is a city and the county seat of Barrow County, Georgia, United States. [6] It is located east of Atlanta and is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. The population was 18,338 at the 2020 census.

Georgia 316 in Barrow County, near the Gwinnett County border. South of Winder, the two routes meet SR 81 at an interchange. To the east, at Bethlehem, is an intersection with SR 11. Then they encounter SR 53 southeast of Winder and at Statham they intersect SR 211.
Southwest of Winder is an intersection with US 29/SR 316. As of fall 2019, the intersection is under construction to be converted into a grade-separated interchange. Construction is estimated to be completed in October 2020. [7] Just before entering Winder, the highway passes Fort Yargo State Park on its western end.
Apalachee High School is a public high school located near Winder, Georgia, United States. [6] The school mascot is a wildcat. [7] Apalachee is a part of Barrow County Schools, a Title I district. Feeder schools include Haymon-Morris Middle School and Westside Middle School. The school is Barrow County's second high school and opened in 2000. [8]

SR 211 begins at an intersection with US 29/SR 8/SR 316 (University Parkway) in Statham, in Barrow County. It heads north-northeast to an intersection with SR 82. It curves to the west to meet SR 11 (Jefferson Highway), northeast of Winder. The two highways run concurrent into Winder.
