In 1879, the "Ocean Pier" was opened, but was heavily damaged and removed in 1881. In 1881, the "Iron Pier" was constructed, but was heavily damaged by a storm and tugboat collision in 1901, leading to its removal in 1908. In 1913, the "Amusement/Fishing Pier" opened at 950 feet, although in 1945 a hurricane destroyed the end part of it.
Sebastian Inlet State Park is a Florida state park located 10 miles south of Melbourne Beach and 6 miles north of Vero Beach in Florida. The park lies on both sides of the Sebastian Inlet, which forms the boundary between Brevard and Indian River counties. The land for the park was acquired by the state of Florida in 1971.

It is about 18 miles (29 km) north of Daytona Beach and about 30 miles (48 km) south of St. Augustine.
