After the Independence of Bangladesh in 1971, censuses were held in the years 1974, 1981, 1991, 2001, and 2011.The last census taken in the country was the 2011 census, which recorded a total population of 144.0 million (this figure, however, was estimated by the Bureau to have been an undercount, and the actual population was estimated to be 149.8 million).
Meanwhile, except for the 2018 election, the remaining two elections were boycotted by most political parties in Bangladesh. During this time, the government carried out massive torture and arrests on their opponents, the top leaders of the opposition parties were sidelined by sentencing them in various cases. [ 23 ]
The 2022 National budget of Bangladesh was presented by Minister of Finance AHM Mustafa Kamal on 9 June 2022. The budget is for the fiscal year beginning on 1 July 2022, and ending on 30 June 2023. The budget was the 14th presented by the Awami League -led Grand Alliance of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina since returning to office in 2009.
