Lake Jacomo / dʒ ə ˈ k oʊ m oʊ / is a 970-acre (3.9 km 2) freshwater reservoir located near Blue Springs in Jackson County, Missouri. It is located in the 7,809-acre (32 km 2 ) Fleming Park , which is managed by the Jackson County Parks and Recreation Association.
Lake Springfield was created in 1957 with the construction of a dam on the James River. The city of Springfield purchased the land before it was submerged. It cost $11.1 million to buy the land and build the dam to create the lake and first two units of the power station. [3] The lake was to be a cooling reservoir for the James River Power plant.
