Capitol Hill is a neighborhood of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It was originally a separate city that was established in 1905, merging with its larger neighbor in 1911. [ 1 ] The neighborhood is located just south of downtown Oklahoma City and borders to the north by the North Canadian River. [ 2 ]
The struggle to make Capitol Hill one of Oklahoma City's hot spot districts remains elusive even though dates revival efforts date back 50 years.
1938- Will Rogers Gardens became home to the Oklahoma City Council of Garden Clubs. The Oklahoma Rose Society planted the 2-acre (8,100 m 2) rose garden with 3,000 rose bushes. 1940-The rose garden was named the Oklahoma City Municipal Rose Garden and was modernized in 1950. 1963- The Will Rogers Garden Exhibition Center was built.
Capitol Hill Junior High School was established in 1919. Capitol Hill High School opened in 1928. [3] It was the first high school south of the North Canadian River in the city, a poorer section of town. [13] In 2015, the school replaced its Redskins mascot with Red Wolves. [14] [15]

The Capitol Hill Beacon was a paid distributed weekly newspaper headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It was founded in 1905. In February 2014, under new ownership, the paper changed its name to the Midwest City Beacon, and relocated from Capitol Hill to Midwest City. The publication remains a legal newspaper of Oklahoma County.
