Bellevue Park, is a neighborhood in East Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It is known as Pennsylvania’s first fully planned residential community . [ 1 ] Bellevue Park is characterized by winding lanes, wooded topography, underground utilities and period street lighting.
The Capital Area Greenbelt Association (CAGA) was founded in 1990 to restore completed sections of the green-way. The city of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and four surrounding townships and boroughs worked with CAGA to develop and enhance the trail. Significant grants obtained throughout the 1990s allowed the 20-mile loop to be almost fully completed.
In 2009, the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Center began hosting the Harrisburg Stampede of the American Indoor Football Association, continuing to do so until 2013 after which the team joined the Professional Indoor Football League and moved to the Giant Center in nearby Hershey.
Harrisburg's site along the Susquehanna River is thought to have been inhabited by Native Americans as early as 3000 BC. Known to the Native Americans as "Peixtin", or "Paxtang", the area was an important resting place and crossroads for Native American traders with trails leading from the Delaware to the Ohio rivers and from the Potomac to the Upper Susquehanna intersecting there.
