The district was founded in 1970, consolidated from Buckeye Local Schools, Belle Center Schools, and Logan Hills Schools. The school district is named after Benjamin Logan (1742–1802), an American pioneer, politician, and general of the Virginia militia.

Benjamin Logan High School is a secondary school located at 55° 45′ 0″ N 37° 37′ 0″ E. The first high school building was the former Zanesfield building and in 1990 it was moved to its current location. Teachers from Ben Logan host Japanese teachers as a cultural exchange. [5]
These schools have a combined enrollment of 2,840. In addition, the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center, located atop Campbell Hill, offers both secondary and post-secondary education. Enrolled at Ohio Hi-Point are 505 students. The neighboring Benjamin Logan Local School District campus also has a Bellefontaine address.
