Lapua Brass is like $2.50-$2.75 a piece for the 338 Lapua Mag . Out of the Rum, Edge and Lapua the Rum would have the cheapest brass of them all giving it the uper hand on the cost spectrum.. He might be able to easily get to the 2600 fps range with a 26-28" barrel with the Rum. I like my Lapua with it's 32" barrel..

A lot of guys use the Norma 338 Lapua brass to work up loads because it shows signs of pressure sooner and then switch to Lapua. brand brass for the long haul. The Lapua and Lapua improved all have a reputation for being accurate and faster with the big bullets. so my choice would be the Lapua. Just my opinion.

Last time I checked a box of decent RUM ammo in 300 or 338 was north of $60.00. Brass cases are about $1.00 a case for Remington stuff if you look for specials. Reloading is the only real way to make this a cost effective solution either way. But bang for buck, I still reckon the Edge is the way to go.

  10. Why Reload .338 Lapua? - Long Range Hunting Forum

    www.longrangehunting.com/threads/why-reload-338-lapua.150217

The brass, powder, primers and bullets to fire a 338 Lapua 1000 times will cost me $1.18 per round. Using 100 NEW Lapua cases, Berger bullets and R33 powder. Most people aren't judging 338 Lapua ammo at 300 yards, more interested in how it groups at a mile and there is the first reason most reload with cost being secondary.
