The Superbike World Championship began in 1988, being open to modified versions of road bike models available to the public.For many years, the formula allowed for machines with 1,000 cc V-twin engines (principally Ducati, but later Aprilia and Honda) to go up against the 750 cc four-cylinder engines (Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Suzuki).

The 2020 season calendar was announced on 21 November 2019, with 13 rounds scheduled. [1] The championship visited Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya (on 19 and 20 September) for the first time, [2] and a round was due to be staged at Oschersleben – on 1 and 2 August – for the first time since 2004. [3]
A new race format was introduced for the 2019 season. [1] As in 2018, two normal length races (Race 1 and Race 2) were held – one each on Saturday and Sunday (Friday and Saturday in Qatar).
On 9 March 2021 the Estoril round, scheduled for 7–9 May, was postponed to an unannounced date and the Navarra round—a new event for the championship—was added into the calendar. [3] On 16 April 2021 the Estoril round was confirmed to be held on 28–30 May. [ 4 ]
The 1995 Superbike World Championship was the eighth FIM Superbike World Championship season. The season started on 7 May at Hockenheim and finished on 29 October at Phillip Island after 12 rounds.
