The Port of Gqeberha is a port in the city of Gqeberha, in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. Located in Algoa Bay, it handles dry bulk, bulk liquid, breakbulk and containers, as well as providing facilities for tugs and fishing vessels. [3] In the 2023 World Bank Container Port Performance Index, the port was ranked 391st out of 405. [4]
The beach at St Georges Strand is Port Elizabeth's northernmost beach. Swimming at the beach is not advised due to violent waters and waves. This is the reason why the beach is not very often frequented by locals or is known very well in the Port Elizabeth area. However lifeguards are on duty during the peak/summer holiday season. [5] [6]
