After building a limited number of 1.5 L Twin Cams, the bore was increased to 82.55 mm (3 + 1 ⁄ 4 in), raising the capacity to 1.56 L. Assembly of the first 50 engines was contracted out to J.A.Prestwich. Prestwich also machined the raw cylinder head castings (cast by William Mills) on these early twin cam engines.
3-valve 5.4 L and 6.8 L engines built before 10/9/07 and 3-valve 4.6 Ls built before 11/30/07 found in many 2004–2008 Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles have an issue with difficult-to-remove spark plugs, which can cause part of the spark plug to become seized in the cylinder head.
The 4.3 L (262 cu in) also used larger valves than the 229 cu in (3.8 L) V6, with a 1.94-inch (49.3 mm) intake valve and a 1 + 1 ⁄ 2-inch (38.1 mm) exhaust valve (also shared with the 350). [ 2 ] In 1986 and 1987, the 4.3 L (262 cu in) engine saw engine design upgrades similar to the Chevrolet small block V8.
The crankshaft drives the camshaft (via a timing belt, timing chain or gears), which in turn actuates the intake and exhaust valves. [1] These valves allow the engine to inhale air (or an air/fuel mixture) and exhale the exhaust gasses. [2] The most common devices to transfer the drive are toothed rubber belts, metal timing chains or a set of ...
The High Value engine family from General Motors is a group of cam-in-block or overhead valve V6 engines. These engines feature cast iron blocks and aluminum heads, and use the same 60° vee bank as the 60° V6 family they are based on, but the new 99 mm (3.90 in) bore required offsetting the bores by 1.5 mm (0.059 in) away from the engine center line.
Cutaway of a dual overhead camshaft engine 1969 AMC V8 overhead valve engine. The rocker cover has been removed, so the pushrods, rocker arms, valve springs, and valves are visible. A valvetrain is a mechanical system that controls the operation of the intake and exhaust valves in an internal combustion engine. [1]
Bore is 83 mm (3.3 in) and stroke 90 mm (3.5 in) is with a compression ratio of 10.3:1. It is naturally aspirated with a power output of 140 PS (103 kW; 138 hp) at 4500 rpm with 220 N⋅m (160 lb⋅ft) of torque at 3750 rpm when using petrol; [ 129 ] and 140 PS (103 kW; 138 hp) at 5100 rpm with 214 N⋅m (158 lb⋅ft) of torque at 4500 rpm when ...
The 4B11T offers a broader torque curve, producing more torque than the 4G63 at all engine speeds, helped by the engine's square bore and stroke design, both measure 86 mm (3.39 in). Redline tachometer hashes start at 7,000 rpm, with a fuel cutout (true redline) at 7600 rpm to protect the engine.
