Alvord High School is a public high school located in the city of Alvord, Texas, USA and classified as a 2A school by the UIL. It is a part of the Alvord Independent School District located in north central Wise County. In 2015, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency. [2]

There is no connection with the Arizona bandit Burt Alvord. A post office was established in 1882. By 1890, Alvord was a retail center for area farmers. In 1925, Alvord had 1,376 residents (42 more than in 2010), a high school, an elementary school, four churches, and a weekly newspaper. The Burlington Northern Railroad stopped there. [6]

Albert "Burt" Alvord (September 11, 1867 – after 1910) was an American lawman and later outlaw of the Old West. Alvord began his career in law enforcement in 1886 as a deputy under Sheriff John Slaughter in Cochise County, Arizona , but turned to train robbery by the beginning of the 20th century.
