George Tupou V [a] (Siaosi Tāufaʻāhau Manumataongo Tukuʻaho Tupou; 4 May 1948 – 18 March 2012) was King of Tonga from 2006 to his death in 2012. He was the eldest son of King Tāufaʻāhau Tupou IV .

The King George Tupou V Family Order was established by His Majesty George Tupou V, The King of Tonga. The Order was established by King George in 2008 upon his accession to the throne, following the death of his father, King Tāufaʻāhau Tupou IV. King George modelled his Royal Family Order after those established by the British Sovereigns.
In the 21st century, King George Tupou V created eight new noble titles but with no hereditary lands.
