The New General Catalogue of Nebulae and Clusters of Stars (abbreviated NGC) is an astronomical catalogue of deep-sky objects compiled by John Louis Emil Dreyer in 1888. The NGC contains 7,840 objects, including galaxies, star clusters and emission nebulae.
The following is a list of NGC objects, that is objects listed in the New General Catalogue (NGC). It is one of the largest comprehensive astronomical catalogues for deep sky objects such as star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies. This is a list of NGC objects 1–1000 from the New General Catalogue (NGC). The astronomical catalogue is composed mainly of star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies.Other objects in the catalogue can be found in the other subpages of the list of NGC objects.
This is a list of NGC objects 4001–5000 from the New General Catalogue (NGC). The astronomical catalogue is composed mainly of star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies. Other objects in the catalogue can be found in the other subpages of the list of NGC objects. The constellation information in these tables is taken from The Complete New General ...
[citation needed] This list of stars is based on the "NGC 2000.0" version of the catalog, which lists the stars in its errata, [citation needed] supplemented with data on each individual star from the VizieR database.
The Messier catalogue: the Messier objects are a set of astronomical objects first listed by French astronomer Charles Messier in 1771. Nebulae and Star Clusters was published in 1781, with objects M1–M110. The New General Catalogue or NGC, compiled in the 1880s by J. L. E. Dreyer, lists objects NGC 0001 – NGC 7840. It is one of the largest ...
Articles with the NGC number in the title use [[Category:NGC objects|####]], dropping the NGC prefix, and using only the number. The number should be padded up to 4 digits using zeroes. Articles without the NGC number in the title use [[Category:NGC objects]]. A redirect containing the NGC number should also be added to the category, sorted as ...
The brighter segments of the nebula have the New General Catalogue designations NGC 6960, 6974, 6979, 6992, and 6995. The easiest segment to find is 6960, which runs behind 52 Cygni, a star that can be seen with the naked eye. NGC 6992 and 6995 are objects on the eastern side of the loop which are also relatively easy to see.
