Dara Singh Randhawa (born Deedar Singh Randhawa; 19 November 1928 – 12 July 2012) was an Indian professional wrestler, actor, director and politician. He started acting in 1952 and was the first sportsman to be nominated to the Rajya Sabha (upper house) of India. [ 3 ]
Dara Singh mounted punches to King Kong at the Japan Wrestling Association 1955. Of all his fights, the ones that caught imagination of the public in South Asia were his bouts with Dara Singh. Dara Singh's act of flooring King Kong remains embedded in Indian legend. [7] [8] [9]
He started his career in wrestling when he arrived at Singapore in 1952. He had a good build and strong body like his brother. During his career he wrestled with wrestlers like Ski Hi Lee, John da Silva and George Gordienko etc. [2] At the time when Dara Singh became the world champion, Randhawa was the reigning Indian champion.

On May 29, 1968, in Bombay, Dara Singh's victory over Lou Thesz earned Dara Singh the World Championship. According to Thesz, Singh (who was 12 years younger than Thesz) was "an authentic wrestler, and was superbly conditioned." For these reasons, Thesz had no problem losing to Dara Singh. Elrington began his professional wrestling career in the United Kingdom for Joint Promotions and Dale Martin Promotions. In 1964, he fought Indian wrestler Dara Singh in India drawing 57,000 fans and ending in a no contest. In February 1967 he won the One Night Tournament defeating Sean Regan in King's Lynn, Norfolk.
