I don't have a minecraft folder. I've looked through forums and videos, followed all the steps. I just don't have one. I have windows 7, and I have "view hidden files" turned on. I have look in the roaming folder of my app data folder, with hidden files turned on.

I just updated my old .minecraft folder to 1.6.2 and it looks like my .minecraft folder is even messier than ever. My hard disk is running out of space so any ideas what folders/files are safe to delete(as in not going to be used in 1.6 onward) Here's a little screenshot of how my .minecraft folder looks like now:
So to answer your question: There is no .minecraft folder for Minecraft Windows 10 Edition as it is a different game from the original one. Installing your map is a complicated process and the map is most likely incompatible with your game.
Find advanced options and it should say where you want it (change to D:/.minecraft). Unfortunatly that doesnt really work. It still keeps the .minecraft folder in appdata, and still installs the game there, but things like resource packs will load from whatever location you have set from the launcher.
I am an independent Windows expert and user like you and hope to resolve your problems quickly. Launch Minecraft. Select "Options". Select "Resource Packs..." Select "Open resource pack folder".
