In 1997 the company became Cape Town City Ballet, a non-profit organization under the leadership of Elizabeth Triegaardt. Professor Triegaardt was both the executive director of the company and the director of the UCT School of Dance. Professor Triegaardt remained on the Board of Directors for the Cape Town City Ballet until April 2019.

Janet Lindup was a South African ballet dancer. [1] Lindup was former principal ballet dancer with CAPAB [2] (since renamed the Cape Town City Ballet Company). Lindup was famed for partnerships with Jeremy Hodges and Johnny Bovang. Lindup retired from dancing in 1999 and now teaches pilates. She is married to Mark Nathan, a physiotherapist.

Mackintosh was born in Cardiff, Wales and began full-time ballet training at the age of 18 after gaining a scholarship from the Buckinghamshire Education Committee. [1] He trained at the Arts Educational School in London for three years, during which he took roles in pantomimes, toured Hungary with West Side Story in 1965 and took part in the BBC's John Cranko production of Onegin in 1966. [1]
In 1986, while still performing with CAPAB Ballet, Triegaardt was appointed director of the University of Cape Town School of Dance. In addition to strengthening the program of training in classical ballet, she introduced contemporary dance and African dance majors to reflect the diversity of theatrical dance forms that had emerged in cities and towns around the country.
