St. Joseph or Saint Joseph [2] is a city in Stearns County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 7,029 at the 2020 census. [3] It is home to the College of Saint Benedict. St. Joseph is part of the St. Cloud Metropolitan Statistical Area. The unincorporated Florida community of St. Joseph, Florida, is named after the Minnesota city. [6]

St. Joseph was first platted in 1829, and the first lighthouse at the site, located on the shore, was built in 1832. Construction began on harbor piers in 1836, and by 1848 a beacon light had been established on the pier. The onshore lighthouse was replaced in 1859, and a new pierhead beacon was constructed on the south pier in 1870.
The Church of St. Joseph is a historic Roman Catholic church building in St. Joseph, Minnesota, United States. It is part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saint Cloud. It was constructed in a German immigrant community in 1869, though the tower wasn't completed until 1884. [2] A rectory stands east of the church.
