Original 1874 heavy barrel 50 caliber Sharps rifle. This gun belonged to Frederick "DOC" Zahl a famous buffalo hunter. There was a book about him written by Usher L. Burdick in 1938, a photocopy is included with gun. A large packet of information is also included. The current Sharps Collectors magazine has an excellent article featuring this gun.

Sharps Model 1874 "Old Reliable" 45-70 Sporting Rifle. Manufactured by the Sharps rifle co., Bridgeport, Connecticut, c. 1876. The rifle features a .45-70 caliber 30" octagon barrel, single trigger, front bladed sight and rear Lawerence ladder style sight.
