the market for used motorcycles out of whack Yes. I just use NADA to determine cash values. That's what Insurance (i.e., Progressive) uses as well for cash value payouts.
Kelly Blue Book wasn't ever accurate outside of their ICO platform. KBB is a range and an average. In that average are wrecked cars with rebuilt titles. If you read the fine print it will say that the price can vary depending on condition, location, etc. This is also the most expensive time to buy a car.
KBB is useful as a guideline. A fair price for a bike is often somewhere between KBB's trade-in and retail pricing. If a CL bike is priced at or above KBB's retail price for a given market, get your negotiating hat on. 2. Reply.
I consider a used bike is an odd formula: Kelly Blue Book +rarity -faults +repairs. Let's say a blue book bike is worth $2000. One person sells the bike, with a bit of damage and unkempt. Another person sells the same model of bike, but has fixed any engine issues, rebuilt many parts, replaced the electrics, etc.

Nada and KBB valued my KLX at $700. I've never seen a KLX/DRZ go for less than $3,000 around here. For private party, using KBB, I just start with the PP price being halfway between the trade-in and the dealer prices. Then adjust up or down based on wear, cosmetics, etc.
It's the most accurate but also a bit of a double edged sword; bikes that have been on CL for longer than 4-5 days are likely overpriced for their market. The best way to get a feel for what your buying price should be is to check prices over a span of a couple days. What sells in a day or two's time is your prime price.
