  2. Drafting Dimension Pink Color - DASSAULT: CATIA products -...

2,375. CA. There is an icon to turn the Analysis (color) On or OFF... the icon should be orange for Analysis ON and kinda blue/grey for Analysis turn OFF. This icon is in the Drafting TOOLS toolbar. It is the one that look like a horizontal dimension with a magnifier on the top right. On the right side of the snap to grid icon.

  3. ordinate dimensioning - Drafting Standards, GD&T & Tolerance ......

    www.eng-tips.com/threads/ordinate-dimensioning.169768

Mechanical. According to ASME Y14.5M-1994, "Coordinate dimensioning must clearly indicate which features of the part indicate [your coordinate zero]." The standard does not show an example doing both ways. Manually placing a minus sign in front of the dimensions on one side is bad CAD practice.

  4. Heat gain associated with refrigerators - HVAC/R engineering

    www.eng-tips.com/threads/heat-gain-associated-with-refrigerators.303894

Watts in = heat out. Just multiply the hour's watt-hours you measured by 3.413 and you'll have BTUs. Note: your measurements may not be typical. Refrigerator rarely runs when it stays shut with cold food in it. However, when opened and warm stuff placed inside, it'll run continuously for a while.

  5. Critical Dimension - Drafting Standards, GD&T & Tolerance...

    www.eng-tips.com/threads/critical-dimension.322065

The critical dimensions are the ones where the tolerances are not complete nonsense. There is the manufacturing issue that some tolerances are difficult to achieve. If some manufacturing process is running at or near its maximum capability, then that feature of the part must be inspected systematically. JHG. 0.

  6. Draft dimensioning - Drafting Standards, GD&T & Tolerance...

    www.eng-tips.com/threads/draft-dimensioning.365816

We (QC) find our engineers seem to have their own rules on how to apply draft. They have a dimension that will say. +dft. and one that will say -dft. They will have in the notes; Dft. angle 1 degree max. or Dft. to be within tolerance, usually meaning the box tolerance. Although they do not specify they usually mean per side but not always.

  7. Max & Min Dimensions - Drafting Standards, GD&T & Tolerance...

    www.eng-tips.com/threads/max-amp-min-dimensions.256540

Dec 18, 2006. 569. US. I do not like to use MAX and MIN dimensions. Used like Sdeters states for threaded holes is good, but otherwise I prefer to explicity give an acceptable range. If the dimension is .060 MAX, then 0 needs to be acceptable. If the dimension is .060 MIN then 99999.999 needs to be acceptable, if the part will allow it.

  8. UNTOLERANCED DIMENSIONS ARE BASIC note in drawing 2 - Eng-Tips

    www.eng-tips.com/threads/untoleranced-dimensions-are-basic-note-in-drawing.406167

The UNTOLERANCED DIMENSIONS ARE BASIC note is used when MOST dimensions on your drawing actually MUST be made basic. Imagine rectangular plate with 200 different holes in it. The width and length of the plate can be directly toleranced, but locations of all the holes must be made basic with appropriate position tolerance applied.

  9. Jogged Dimension Leader - Siemens: UG/NX | Eng-Tips

    www.eng-tips.com/threads/jogged-dimension-leader.318333

Mechanical. So-called 'jogging' of normal dimension extension lines is NOT supported in NX. However, 'Jogging' is supported when creating Ordinate Dimensions. Now you can add 'jogs' to the leaders of things like ID symbols and text notes. Just double-click on the leader and when the dialog opens, in the section labeled 'Leader' you will find an ...

  10. Dimensioning to hidden lines - Drafting Standards, GD&T &...

    www.eng-tips.com/threads/dimensioning-to-hidden-lines.159820

Dimensions to hidden views are bad practise, and should be avoided. Sometimes, avoiding them is a lot of work, and it does not accomplish much. Your primary objective is to provide clear, unambiguous information, and on simple stuff, a dimension to a single, clear hidden line is clear and unambiguous. JHG.

  11. dimensioning an elipse - DASSAULT: SOLIDWORKS 3D Design -...

    www.eng-tips.com/threads/dimensioning-an-elipse.200968

Ellipse size is 2-dimensional. Typically, ellipse size is defined by major diameter and minor diameter. Sometimes, eccentricity is used. In sketches, SW ellipse entities already have points at their major and minor diameters. In a drawing, an elliptical edge does not have these points.
