DL175. 5410 posts · Joined 2011. #3 · Apr 27, 2021 (Edited) The rear suspension part is expoxied to prevents rear alignment. This is Toyota recall solution blunder. In order to do a rear alignment you need to replace those parts. The parts are around $80 each and labour should be less than 2 hours.
Axle seals - OEM Toyota - 9031137004 - $18.36. Rear differential breather - OEM Toyota - 9093003235 - $2.65. 85w90 differential fluid. Refurbished subframe - $140 @ Junkyard. Axle Nuts - OEM Toyota - 9008017238 $14.36 (for two) I started hunting for a subframe locally, and put in a request at a local yard.

We had to freeze the bushing with the metal sleeve over night then use a c-clamp to press it into the trailing arm. The rear subframe on my '06 RAV4 is rusted out and needs to be replaced. I've looked through all the relevant sections of the factory service manual for suspension, body, etc. but can't find the torque values for the subframe bolts themselves.
Pop off the plastic cover in the rear cargo area (on the wheel humps). Using a socket and open-end wrench, hold the lower nut and loosen the upper nut, on the upper shock mount. Then remove the lower nut too. Using a socket, remove the lower shock eyelet bolt. Slide old shock off the pin, and replace with new one.
Rear shock replacement on 2009 RAV4. I got pleasure (not) of replacing the rear shocks and sway bar links on my 2009 RAV 4, FWD, 2.5. The wheel alignment for the rear of a 5th gen RAV is a SCAM if the only thing that is adjustable according to TIS is rear Toe--and that is rarely a problem. It's the excessive negative camber that causes rapid inner tire tread wear especially on the heavier hybrids and Primes that people are concerned with.
