A blog is simply a website that commonly organizes its contents into "updates" that are posted in a given order, with the newest content frequently "first", at the top of given page. Each "update" is often a separate web page on the website. Many blogs allow readers of the online updates to post comments.
The blog is part of a notable and credible special interest site and the blog or postings are clearly identified as belonging to the named individual. The blog is part of a site owned by the person(s) in question, and is established as their own words. The blog is clearly identified on a credible site as belonging to that person(s).
A corporate website is self-published. When the corporate website provides information about the business, it is non-independent. A personal blog is self-published. When the blog provides information about a book written by someone unconnected to the blog's author, the blog post is independent of the book and the book's author.
Otherwise reliable news sources—for example, the website of a major news organization—that publish in a blog-style format for some or all of their content may be as reliable as if published in standard news article format (See also Wikipedia:Verifiability § Newspaper and magazine blogs).
Transcripts of content are generally not reliable unless produced by a reliable source. The opinions of a fan site owner or owners are generally not reliable - anyone can set up a website and claim to be part of an "editorial team" without establishing a widely known reputation for fact-checking and content control.
Material from bulletin boards and forum sites, Usenet, wikis, blogs and comments associated with blog entries should not normally be used as sources. These media do not have adequate levels of editorial oversight or author credibility and lack assured persistence.
