Beachwood Place is a shopping mall located in Beachwood, Ohio, an affluent Greater Cleveland suburb roughly 10 miles (16 km) from downtown Cleveland. It is anchored by Dillard's (247,000 square feet (22,900 m 2 )), Nordstrom (215,000 square feet (20,000 m 2 )), and Saks Fifth Avenue (117,000 square feet (10,900 m 2 )).
This is the third mall to be built in Houston after Gulfgate Mall opened in 1956 and Meyerland Plaza in 1957, but the first fully air-conditioned mall in Houston. The area includes the Jewelry Exchange Center, a ten-story building. [1] After the mall was renamed PlazAmericas, it took a Latin American theme and catered to Hispanics. [2]
Macy's followed by opening their new store, and becoming the fifth anchor store, in July 1985. [16] The new Macy's store featured three stories, at least 30 departments, 220,000 square feet of retail space, and became their third store to open in the Houston area.
Field's continued to expand under BATUS, adding stores at Houston's Town & Country Mall in 1983 and at the North Star Mall in San Antonio in 1986. Only four years after buying Marshall Field's, however, BATUS scaled back its retail operations in 1986, selling Field's former subsidiaries Frederick & Nelson and The Crescent to a local investor group.

Pearland Town Center is one of two malls to open in the Houston area in 2008, along with Houston Premium Outlets in March 2008 which is located in Cypress, Texas, and both utilize the "lifestyle center/outdoor mall" concept. The center contains the most recently constructed Dillard's and Macy's locations in Southeast Texas, since 2003.
