James A. "Jim" Corbett (October 8, 1933 – August 2, 2001) was an American rancher, writer, Quaker, philosopher, and human rights activist and a co-founder of the Sanctuary movement. He was born in Casper, Wyoming , and died near Benson, Arizona .
At the time of the murder, Corbitt was separated from his wife and his 11-year-old son, and had a mistress, Ms. Woods. In August 1950, he throttled Woods in a hotel room in Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire. Her body was found the next morning with the word 'whore' written on her forehead. Corbitt pleaded guilty but insane.
