Ushuaia (/ uː ˈ s w aɪ. ə / oo-SWY-ə, Spanish:) is the capital of Tierra del Fuego, Antártida e Islas del Atlántico Sur Province, Argentina.With a population of 82,615 and a location below the 54th parallel south latitude, Ushuaia claims the title of world's southernmost city.

The geographical area of its jurisdiction includes the province of Santa Cruz, the Big Island of Tierra del Fuego and the island of the States, and the southern maritime spaces that reach the 60º South parallel. The Southern Fuegian Railway (Spanish: Ferrocarril Austral Fueguino (FCAF)) or the Train of the End of the World (Spanish: El Tren del Fin del Mundo) is a 500 mm (19 + 3 ⁄ 4 in) gauge steam railway in Tierra del Fuego Province, Argentina. It was originally built as a freight line to serve the prison of Ushuaia, specifically to transport timber.
It was named Presidio de San Felipe y Santiago de Janos and in 1717 the Franciscan mission was re-established among the Janos and Jocomes people. In 1692, however, a new people, the Apache , were recorded for the first time within the borders of Mexico, having immigrated from further north.
