Located in Glenview, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, the air base primarily operated training aircraft as well as seaplanes on nearby Lake Michigan during World War II.
The Glenview Hangar One Foundation was founded by A. C. Realie in 1996 to preserve the eponymous 180,000 sq ft (17,000 m 2) hangar and turn it into a museum.
