If you followed these instructions properly, your router will actually be port forwarding 25565 to your Minecraft server. You can now let your friends/public know what your IP address is so they may connect to your server and play! If this doesn't work, it may also be that your computer has firewall set up as well.

I am trying to set up a Minecraft server and I have opened the appropriate port (25565), but everywhere I check, my port seems to be closed. Also, my Mac is not listed in the DHCP Client list even though, I am getting my IP Address and my DHCP is working fine. My server starts but people who try to connect fails.
