Google Translate is bad because in the context of existing translations and understanding vocabulary and verb phrases. Almost every word has a specific meaning in the context that it meant more different. For example, "play" may "tool", "Play" or "playground" items that are different tracks in different languages.

Kafke. •. Google translate struggles with translating between languages that are very different from one another, and languages that have a lot of ambiguity. Which is why English<->Japanese translation is so terrible. But translations like English<->Spanish and Chinese<->Japanese should be a lot better.
Translating isn't as easy as just replacing a sentence word by word. Different languages have different words completley and the way the words are constructed into a sentence is vastly different between languages.
If you're translating from your native language to a foreign language, Google Translate is an absolute disaster. The output is ungrammatical, it barfs completely on colloquial speech, and it frequently omits words like not, so you'll wind up saying exactly the opposite of what you intended. Depends on the language.
