I killed 3 deer from 50 to 225 with the Creedmoor using the 143gr ELD-X, one dropped and the other two ran a short distance before dying. With the PRC I killed a Crow at 300, a buck at 60 and a bear at 60 all in less than 24 hours using the 122gr Lehigh Controlled Chaos at roughly 3200 fps with 57.5gr Superformance.

The ELD-Xs solve that for me. In Practical terms you look at the numbers I think the 6.5 PRC has a slight Edge over but 270 WSM because of the bullet selection, BC, and velocities of like usable hunting bullets in the 1 43 145 grain range. That difference will be minimal.

I am currently torn between 6.5 Creedmoor and 6.5 PRC, ballistically the 6.5 PRC looks like the winner, but it has drawbacks too, less options for factory ammo, more expensive per round, less common in stores (an issue in the next ammo panic, yes I reload but brass might be an issue), and the magazines are absurdly expensive ...
6.5 SAUM: 70-71 gr. The PRC has 25% more capacity than a creedmoor, and 5-6% less than a SAUM. In quickload, holding pressure constant at 57k psi in a 26" barrel with 140 hybrids, a 6.5 SAUM (H1000) is about 30-40 fps faster than a 6.5 PRC (H1000), and the PRC is 220 fps faster than a 6.5 creedmoor (H4350).
A CNS hit is almost 100%. A basic bitch 7RM and a hot new optimized 7 PRC is not the same thing. You can setup a 7 RM to blow the PRC out of the water, its not hard. Hell a 7 WSM can push a 180 to about 3K and do it with a long action with less powder. 7PRC like alot of these rounds was created and marketed to idiots.

The prc is in another class imo. Handloaded, that gap would widen further. The bc’s on the heavy 6.5 bullets are in another league from the 6mm. Similar speeds would mean the prc stomps the 6. If I were you I’d consider the 6.5 creed, not the 6, but that’s just me. There are other considerations, like barrel life, ammo cost, and recoil.
In the "real world" of a hand loader, heavy-for-caliber 7mm will always be better than 6.5, even if only by a slight amount. Better is better. Of course from a long action .338 beats 6.5, 7 and 7.62mm. There are others that say the shooter's going to make the difference and the ballistics are academic. FredIII.
I just listened to a really good Podcadt “Long Range Pursut”. AKA Gunwerks. It’s their newest episode I believe. Went really in depth on this exact subject. 6.5 PRC , 28 Noslers, 300 PRC. The 6.5 PRC is a good alternative to a 7mm Mag. Less recoil. Well above 6.5 CM performance in both wind drift and drop.
