Joseph Wright (born 25 August 1972) is an English film director. His motion pictures include the period drama adaptations Pride & Prejudice (2005), Atonement (2007), Anna Karenina (2012), and Cyrano (2021), the action thriller Hanna (2011), the Peter Pan origin story Pan (2015), [ 1 ] and Darkest Hour (2017).
Director Joe Wright met producer Lorenzo Mieli while doing press for Cyrano in 2021. Mieli asked Wright if he wanted to direct a series about Mussolini and Wright "immediately said yes".
