That’s a 9 minute drive from the state park. Another 5 minutes up the road is Meijer. LJ’s pantry was a 4 minute drive from the park. You don’t do google well. Of course the place is packed. It’s a public campground in summer that’s right on the beach/channel. What were you expecting? If you want seclusion Muskegon State Park ain’t it.

You can't go wrong with Muskegon or Grand Haven, but I'd highly recommend continuing your stay at Muskegon State Park. Much of the park has an excellent view of Lake Michigan. It has a pristine beach, acceptable camping space and the surrounding area makes for some enjoyable night hiking or bike riding, particularly as fog rolls in off the lake.

According to Muskegon City staff- 75 percent of people who visit Pere Marquette are not residents of Muskegon. The problem with this is there are so many other great beaches in West Michigan that people could go to and not pay a dime- Duck Lake State Park or Muskegon State Park.
